HOUSTON (AP) Authorities plan to resume their search this morning for a boater who went missing after two boats collided near Baytown yesterday. The Coast Guard used a helicopter and a 25-foot response boat to join police and fire dive teams in the search for the missing man. The search was suspended overnight. Meanwhile, state Parks and Wildlife officials were searching on land for the occupants of the other motorboat who fled the area of the crash.
TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) Authorities in northeastern Texas and southwestern Arkansas are searching for an escapee from the Bowie County Correctional Center in Texarkana, Texas. The Bowie County Sheriff says that Marques Franklin escaped between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. yesterday. Prince says Franklin is black, about 5-feet-9-inches tall and 120 pounds.
PORTLAND, Texas (AP) Police have released a revised composite sketch of a man suspected of killing a teenage woman and wounding her girlfriend in a shooting at a South Texas park. The June 23rd shooting killed 19-year-old Mollie Olgin and critically injured 18-year-old Mary Chapa. The couple was shot in a park in Portland, about seven miles north of Corpus Christi.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) Relatives have announced this weekend that Steve McNair Junior is taking his talents to Wichita Falls, where he will continue his college football career at Midwestern State. McNair, son of the late Houston Oilers quarterback, spent the past two seasons at Mississippi's Pearl River Community College, where he played receiver and on defense.
