FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) The trial for an Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly Fort Hood shooting rampage has been put on hold. Court proceedings for Major Nidal Hasan were halted yesterday while an appeals court considers his objections to being forcibly shaved. Hasan had been scheduled to enter a plea.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A federal judge has refused to grant a new trial to a former Texas Tech University student convicted in a failed bomb plot. Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari was convicted earlier this year in Lubbock. Aldawsari accused prosecutors of misrepresenting his intentions for coming to America.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) Funerals service will be held Saturday at Texas A&M University for an officer killed while serving an eviction notice near campus. College Station police yesterday announced the arrangements for Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann. His funeral will be Saturday afternoon at Reed Arena.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A West Texas businessman indicted in a $42 million biodiesel fuel fraud investigation has reported to jail. Jeffrey Gunselman was booked into the Lubbock County Jail yesterday. The former Absolute Fuels chief executive officer has been indicted on charges of wire fraud, money laundering and making false statements.
