BRYAN, Texas (AP) A deputy clerk in a Central Texas county has been charged with pocketing about $18,000 in marriage license fees. Jaime Hines was arrested yesterday on a charge of theft by a public servant. Brazos County Clerk Karen McQueen says all marriage licenses issued by Hines are valid.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) Rescue crews are trying to find a North Texas triathlete who disappeared while training in a Dallas-area lake. Grand Prairie police say the search resumed today at Joe Pool Lake for the 45-year-old Mansfield resident. Authorities say the man's wife contacted police when he failed to return home Monday night.

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) Mitt Romney used stops in West Texas to raise money for his Republican presidential campaign. The former Massachusetts governor appeared last night in Midland. Romney promised to roll back the Medicare spending cuts approved under President Barack Obama.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) A 43-year-old man convicted of killing three former housemates as they slept has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to spare him from the Texas death chamber. John Balentine is set to die this evening in Huntsville. A reprieve for Balentine would be his third in as many years.
