HOUSTON (AP) A state commission has issued a "public warning" against a South Texas judge who's already been suspended after a years-old video surfaced showing him beating his teenage daughter. The effect of the warning released today against Aransas County Court at Law Judge William Adams is unclear. The Texas Supreme Court suspended Adams with pay after the video was released and his caseload since then has been handled by visiting judges.

HOUSTON (AP) The leader of a notorious street gang has pleaded guilty in a South Texas case of protecting drug lords and their loads. Federal prosecutors in Houston announced today that 35-year-old Jeffrey Juarez of Sugar Land pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and Ecstasy.

KODIAK, Alaska (AP) A man from Texas who was found face-down in the water while fishing at a beach on Alaska's Kodiak Island has died. Seventy-three-year-old Emilian Foltyn's death is being investigated as a possible drowning after his body was found yesterday.

TEMPLE, Texas (AP) Ground has been broken for a 758-megawatt, natural gas-fueled power plant to serve Central Texas. Ceremonies were held today in Temple where Panda Temple Power LLC is building the facility. Dallas-based Panda Power Funds has said the plant will create about 800 construction jobs and is to be operated by more than two dozen regular employees upon completion.
