DALLAS (AP) American Airlines has given more details on its plan to close a maintenance facility in Fort Worth. It has told union workers it will shut down four maintenance lines at Alliance Airport in November and start layoffs in mid-December. About 1,100 jobs will be cut. And the flight attendants union says about 900 of its members have signed up so far for $40,000 early-out payments.

CARROLLTON, Texas (AP) An Irving man charged with murder says in a jailhouse interview that he set up a meeting with a 16-year-old girl just to talk but was overcome by what he called "demons" when they were face-to-face. Police say Franklin Davis killed Shania Gray to keep her from testifying against him in an upcoming rape trial. Gray's body was found Saturday near the Trinity River in Carrollton.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A Lackland Air Force base instructor has pleaded guilty to violating rules barring instructors from having personal relationships with trainees. But Staff Sergeant Kwinton Estacio has pleaded not guilty to a more serious charge of sexual assault and wants a trial. More than a dozen Lackland instructors have been investigated in connection with the sex scandal.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Funeral services for Bob Gammage will be Thursday in the Senate chamber at the Texas Capitol. The Democratic lawmaker and unsuccessful candidate for governor died at home today from an apparent heart attack. He was 74. Gammage also served as a justice on the Court of Appeals and the state Supreme Court.
