SAN ANTONIO (AP) Police officers in San Antonio have shot and killed a gunman who allegedly threatened a woman in a hotel room, then fired at officers. Authorities say the incident happened earlier today at a Days Inn. The woman and two officers who returned fire were uninjured.
HOUSTON (AP) Houston police have shot and killed a man who allegedly stabbed three guests at a party. Police spokesman Kese Smith says two officers opened fire last night when the man refused to put down a knife and then charged toward them. Smith says the stabbings happened at a home where people were gathering to celebrate an upcoming wedding.
MANOR, Texas (AP) A Central Texas school bus driver has been charged with molesting an elementary student. The Manor (MAY'-ner) Independent School District says 62-year-old Gilbert Briseno has been fired for questionable conduct. Police believe the child was molested when she and the driver were alone in the vehicle.
WASHINGTON (AP) The Smithsonian Institution has announced a seven-city tour to showcase the Congressional Gold Medal awarded last year to Japanese American veterans from World War II. The medal was given in recognition of their service to the U.S. The tour begins in January in New Orleans, and includes stops in Houston, Los Angeles and Chicago.
