SPRINGTOWN, Texas (AP) Police say they have arrested a North Texas teacher after she admitted to authorities that she had been using methamphetamine in the mornings before class for about seven years. Vickie Bruce has been charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone. She is free on a $25,000 bond. She has taught at an elementary school in Springtown, located about 25 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) Police say various human body parts that were illegally dumped in a Southeast Texas landfill are believed to be from legitimate medical practices such as amputations. About 15 body parts, mostly lower extremities, were found by workers in the Port Arthur city landfill on Friday. Authorities do not suspect foul play.
HOUSTON (AP) A 3-year-old Houston-area girl has died after being hit as her father backed up his truck in the family's driveway. Authorities say the father was pulling out of the driveway in the family home in northwest Harris County on Friday when he ran over his daughter. Investigators say the girl's death appears to be an accident.
DALLAS (AP) Bow hunters in three North Texas counties are getting to do something they haven't been able to do in 36 years hunt deer. The Dallas Morning News reports state officials yesterday reopened the suburban counties of Collin, Dallas and Rockwall to bow hunting. The bow hunting season runs until November 2nd.
