SAN ANTONIO (AP) A woman who ran a South Texas home for the mentally challenged where four men died in a fire must close her new residential facility. Regulators yesterday said Nancy Murrah has been told to shut down the site due to no certificate of occupancy. The cause of the August fire that destroyed the two-story group home remains under investigation.
TYLER, Texas (AP) An East Texas man has been charged with using a lawn mower blade to slice his son's arm during an argument. Fifty-one-year-old Darron Campbell of Tyler is being held without bond. Tyler police say Campbell was working with his 26-year-old son yesterday when the pair got into a physical fight.
MARSHALL, Texas (AP) Twelve people have been indicted in an East Texas drug trafficking and firearms investigation. Federal prosecutors yesterday announced 10 arrests in the cocaine and methamphetamine case. U.S. Attorney John Bales says the case involves drug distribution in the Marshall area since 2009.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) Authorities say a man with an assault rifle robbed a Houston-area Tiffany & Co. store and fled with some expensive jewelry. Investigators say a man yesterday afternoon held up the high-end retailer in The Woodlands. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is working to identify the suspect, whose image was captured on store surveillance video.
