HOUSTON (AP) The 16-month-old son of Houston Astros catcher Carlos Corporan has died. The 28-year-old Corporan told the team yesterday that Carlos Corporan Junior had died. The team said he had undergone four heart surgeries since his birth in June 2011.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) An El Paso police officer who died following a beating while he was off-duty has been laid to rest at Fort Bliss National Cemetary. Officer Jonathan Molina was buried after a memorial service on Friday. Seventeen-year-old Juan Antonio Gonzalez has been charged with capital murder after the policeman was attacked on September 25th when Molina challenged a group of youths keying his car.

DALLAS (AP) A North Texas woman has been charged with retaliation for allegedly posting an undercover police officer's picture on Facebook. Mesquite police say Melissa Walthall did so because the officer testified against her friend in a drug case. A federal affidavit says her Facebook post identified the person as an undercover cop. The affidavit says the post posed a viable threat to that officer's safety.

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) Officials say they may never know the origin of body parts found in a South Texas landfill two weeks ago. Port Arthur landfill manager Micheal Tentrup says nine human ankles were found in biohazard bags by September 28th. Only one biomedical company contracts with the landfill. But BioMedical Waste Solutions President Wes Sonnier says his company is only licensed to handle medical supplies, not body parts.
