HOUSTON (AP) A man has been struck by lightning while working on a roof in Houston. Harris County sheriff's officials say workers were clearing materials off the roof yesterday morning when the man was struck. The 30-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where his condition is not known.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) A sheriff's deputy has shot and killed a teenager in San Antonio. Bexar County sheriff's Detective Louis Antu says the officer was driving yesterday morning when he saw the 19-year-old acting suspiciously. Antu says the teen was shot after he allegedly tried to shove the deputy into oncoming traffic.

The Dallas Morning News reports the Texas Education Agency opened more than 150 cases in the last fiscal year. The increase has been linked to modern technology, including cellphones and website like Facebook.
