HOUSTON (AP) Houston police have arrested a woman in the fatal shooting of her husband with a gun she allegedly thought was not loaded. Police detained 47-year-old Sonia Whitford on a manslaughter charge after the death early today of 43-year-old Troy Whitford. The couple's 16-year-old son was home during the shooting but wasn't hurt. He's been placed with Children Protective Services.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The Texas Public Utilities Commission will likely double the price cap on wholesale electricity in order to encourage more generation. PUC chairwoman Donna Nelson told the House State Affairs Committee today that the commission will vote on the proposal tomorrow. She said raising the maximum price that a generator can charge is needed to make sure there is enough electricity available during peak summer periods.

DALLAS (AP) A Dallas Arboretum exhibit by famed glass artist Chihuly (chuh-HOO'-lee) will run through the end of the year. Arboretum officials today announced an extension of the original November 5th closure date due to the popularity of the outdoor show. Museum officials say more than 461,000 visitors have viewed the exhibit since the display opened May 5th.

HOUSTON (AP) Two charter pilots from Texas who were arrested in Panama on suspicion of money laundering are heading home for good. American Jet International spokesman Bruce Hicks says Carl Moody and Kenneth Chonoski will return to Houston this afternoon. Neither was ever charged with any crime after being detained in May 2011.
