RICHMOND, Texas (AP) A Fort Bend County Sheriff's investigator has been killed in an off-duty motorcycle accident. The sheriff's office says 45-year-old Shelley Nicodemus was pronounced dead at the scene after yesterday's accident. The driver, Investigator Moses Perez, suffered head and back injuries in the crash.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Authorities say a 17-year-old boy who stopped to help after a car accident on Interstate 35 died after being hit by a suspected drunk driver and then falling off the highway overpass. Fort Worth police say Joshua Kaluzniak of Grandview was one of several passers-by who stopped to help yesterday morning. The 43-year-old driver of the vehicle that hit Kaluzniak was arrested.

VICTORIA, Texas (AP) Two people have been found dead in their Victoria apartment with apparent stab wounds. Police says the bodies of 51-year-old Bennie Dupnik and 44-year-old Sandra Rivera were discovered Saturday evening. Authorities are suspecting foul play.

DALLAS (AP) A new initiative involving schools and social-service agencies is aimed at supporting families in an area of Dallas that suffers from persistent poverty. The Dallas Morning News reports the program called the School Zone will offer support in a variety of ways, including tutoring and therapy. Southern Methodist University, the Dallas school district and 20 nonprofits have teamed up for the project.
