LOS ANGELES (AP) The actor involved in one of the biggest cliffhangers in television history has died. Larry Hagman played scheming oil baron J.R. Ewing on TV's long-running nighttime soap opera "Dallas." He was 81. The "Who Shot J.R." episode in 1980 was among the most-watched broadcasts of its day.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) A Dallas trucker is tearfully thanking his supporters upon his return to the United States after being detained for seven months in Mexico. Jabin Bogan was accused there of trying to smuggle assault rifle ammunition into the country. He says he took a wrong turn.

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) The Houston area couple killed during a massive Thanksgiving Day highway wreck in Texas had be driving to Louisiana for a gambling trip. The children of Vincent and Debbie Leggio of Pearland say it was the family's first Thanksgiving apart. The chain-reaction crash involved more than 100 vehicles, and 80 people were injured.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) A Fort Carson soldier injured when a train struck a veterans parade float in Texas says he hopes he'll be able to walk again. Richard Sanchez Jr. expects to return to Colorado next week. Four people were killed and 15 were injured, including Sanchez, when the train struck the float in Midland, Texas, on Nov. 15.
