DALLAS (AP) A former Dallas police officer will be sentenced today for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and income tax evasion. Theadora Ross pleaded guilty after she was accused of defrauding the city's Crime Stoppers program out of more than $170,000. Ross once led the popular rewards program.

DALLAS (AP) Many Dallas commuters will be paying more to get to and from work starting today. Most Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus and train fares are increasing by about 25 percent.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) A man who was arrested in Texas and later charged with killing a worker at a coffee stand in Alaska has been found dead in his jail cell. Investigators say it appears Israel Keyes killed himself. Keyes has been linked to as many as seven other killings in three states. Authorities say he also confessed to a Texas bank robbery.

DALLAS (AP) Hundreds of fans of the TV show "Dallas" turned out at Southfork Ranch yesterday. They signed a condolence book to pay tribute to actor Larry Hagman, who died the day after Thanksgiving. There was a private memorial yesterday in California for the actor who starred as oilman J.R. Ewing.
