HOUSTON (AP) Houston police say bones found at an abandoned apartment complex have been identified as a 31-year-old female resident. Authorities yesterday asked the public for help in determining what happened to Natasha Hollins. Some potential buyers of the property located a skull during a site inspection in September.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) A former West Texas school district official is being fired after an audit showed possible cheating attempts at his new job. Canutillo Independent School District trustees yesterday suspended superintendent Damon Murphy without pay in the dismissal process. Murphy is a former associate superintendent in the El Paso Independent School District.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) U.S. Senator John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott are urging the passage of a new federal law to fight child pornography. The two Republicans are expected to call for the passage of the new Child Protection Act today. If signed into law, the act would increase the penalties for child pornography, protect child witnesses and give U.S. marshals new authority to obtain time-sensitive documents.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) The family of World War II veteran injured in 1944 will be getting his military honors in a West Texas ceremony. The U.S. Army today is scheduled to award a posthumous Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars to Juan Marquez. He suffered injuries after being struck by a German tank in France.
