AUSTIN, Texas (AP) One of Texas' most influential business groups is backing a flexible high school graduation plan that it says will better prepare students for college and the workforce of tomorrow. The Texas Association of Business says the initiative will promote post-secondary education and workforce readiness while also "maintaining a strong accountability system."

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Two BP rig supervisors are asking a federal judge to postpone their manslaughter trial for the 2010 deaths of 11 workers. Their trial is set to begin early February, but attorneys say they need more time to prepare.
