MCALLEN, Texas (AP) Three South Texas lawmen are set to appear in a McAllen court today after prosecutors say they took thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for guarding cocaine shipments. The accused include a Mission police officer whose father is the Hidalgo County Sheriff, along with two of his father's deputies.
PHOENIX (AP) The Las Vegas company that owns a luxury jet that crashed, killing Mexican pop superstar Jenni Rivera is under investigation by the DEA. An agency spokeswoman says the government seized a plane in Texas and another in Arizona that were owned by Starwood Management.
ALAMO, Texas (AP) After the president's health care reform is done, states with the most illegal immigrants could be left with a disproportionate number of uninsured people and a hefty financial burden to pay for their emergency room care. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Fort Worth homeless advocates plan to hold services next week on National Homeless Memorial Day to remember a 41-year-old man who died when the garbage bin he was sleeping in was emptied into a compactor. A memorial and candlelight service will be held on December 21st, the longest night of the year.
