BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) A funeral and mass will be held this week in Louisiana for a long-time TV anchor and reporter from Beaumont who was killed in a car crash. KFDM anchorman Bill Leger was killed early Saturday when the 48-year-old failed to negotiate a curve.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The Texas Department of Veterans Affairs will begin a mortality study to track causes of death for veterans. The department is putting together a model that could allow similar data to be gathered nationwide.

DALLAS (AP) About $2.3 billion in investment and redevelopment has helped transform Dallas' downtown in the past 10 years. A new bridge, a deck park and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science have helped eliminate divides between downtown Dallas and other parts of the city. Belo Garden in the heart of the city and a performance hall in the Arts District have helped the transformation.

DALLAS (AP) Get ready: Parts of Texas may have a white Christmas. The National Weather Service says temperatures should drop into the 50s today and rain tomorrow could turn to snow by the evening, especially in Dallas, Fort Worth and areas along the Oklahoma border.
