MOBILE, Ala. (AP) An enormous storm system that dumped snow and sleet on the nation's midsection and unleashed damaging tornadoes around the Deep South will slow holiday travel today as it moves toward the Northeast. In Texas, the storm's high winds knocked out power and slickened roads.
EL PASO, Texas (AP) Two people who are accused of being involved in a 2009 cartel-related murder in El Paso are set to stand trial in February. Nineteen-year-old Juan Gerardo Garcia Junior and 20-year old Christopher Duran are among three people who are accused of being involved in the shooting death of Jose Gonzalez-Galeana.
HOUSTON (AP) Former President George H.W. Bush spent the Christmas holiday in a Houston hospital. His wife, Barbara, and other relatives visited him. The 41st president has been in the hospital since November 23rd because of a lingering, bronchitis-like cough.
PLANO, Texas (AP) A fatal fire is under investigation in Plano. Authorities say an 87-year-old man died on Christmas Eve when a Christmas tree went up in flames. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries.
