HOUSTON (AP) A spokesman says former President George H.W. Bush's condition continues to improve and that he was moved out of intensive care yesterday and into a regular hospital room. Family spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement Saturday that the Bushes thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes.
DALLAS (AP) The Dallas Morning News Texans of the Year are two men who devoted themselves to exposing and fighting injustice after being exonerated following years in prison for crimes they didn't commit. The News says in an editorial that exonerees Christopher Scott and Michael Morton, who were serving life sentences before being declared innocent, "opted this year to commit their time, fame and money to fixing the flawed justice system that came close to destroying their lives."
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) Backers of a proposal to build a commercial spaceport in the southernmost tip of Texas are looking for ways to attract the company with full knowledge that money will be tight in the upcoming legislative session. The beachside location near the U.S.-Mexico border is in the running with Florida, Georgia and Puerto Rico for California-based SpaceX's new launch site.
WACO, Texas (AP) Baylor has suspended post player J'mison Morgan because of a violation of university policy. Bears coach Scott Drew said in a release last night that the 6-foot-11 Morgan, a fifth-year senior who has played only one game this season, will not return to the team. Drew didn't elaborate yesterday.
