HOUSTON (AP) An American Airlines flight from Brazil to North Texas diverted to Houston after a 25-year-old passenger died aboard the aircraft. Houston police say homicide detectives responding to George Bush Intercontinental Airport yesterday morning found no signs of trauma on the woman. The plane continued on to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport about three hours later.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) A North Texas anti-drunken driving enforcement officer has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Fort Worth Police Chief Jeffrey Halstead has placed Officer Nicolas Ramirez on restricted duty following his arrest yesterday morning. Keller police say two breath tests revealed Ramirez's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
LAS VEGAS (AP) Authorities say a man wanted for murder in San Antonio has fatally shot himself near the Las Vegas Strip. Las Vegas police haven't identified the man, who is believed to be in his early 30s. Police Captain Chris Jones says the suspect emerged from a hotel yesterday morning, ran a short distance and shot himself.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) State officials have fined a political action committee $6,450 over nearly $65,000 in illegal campaign contributions. The Texas Ethics Commission's ruling comes nearly a year after a watchdog group filed a complaint against WCS-Texas Solutions. The PAC was created by Waste Control Specialists, which is owned by Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons.
