EL PASO, Texas (AP) West Texas is getting slammed by a winter storm. A winter storm warning is in effect through tonight for an area west of the Pecos River. Some roads are closed in the El Paso area. Up to 10 inches of snow could pile up.

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) A grand jury will look into a deadly crash at a Midland train crossing. Four veterans were killed in November when a freight train struck the parade float they were riding on. Prosecutors aren't saying whether they are recommending an indictment.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Funeral services for Houston McCoy are being held today in West Texas. McCoy was the Austin police officer who helped stop Charles Whitman's sniper rampage at the University of Texas clock tower in 1966. McCoy died last week at age 72.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) Developers are planning a new oil dock on the east bank of the Sabine (suh-BEEN')-Neches Ship Channel near Port Arthur. The site is where a rusting dry dock sank a couple of years ago. The complex will help deliver crude oil to Valero's Port Arthur Refinery and other nearby refineries.
