HOUSTON (AP) A spokesman for former President George H.W. Bush says his recovery from a bronchitis-related cough and subsequent complications is "continuing." The 88-year-old Bush has been hospitalized in Houston since November 23rd. Spokesman Jim McGrath says there's still no timetable for Bush's release.
MELISSA, Texas (AP) A former North Texas mayor has pleaded guilty to soliciting a bribe from a real estate broker. David Dorman entered his plea yesterday afternoon in federal court in Sherman. Dorman was the mayor of Melissa for 10 years.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Ruth Carter Stevenson, creator of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, has died at the age of 89. The institution issued a statement yesterday, saying Carter Stevenson died Sunday at her Fort Worth home. She was the only daughter of longtime publisher and promoter Amon G. Carter.
MCALLEN, Texas (AP) A South Texas man charged with sexual assault of a minor previously worked as a U.S. Border Patrol agent. A patrol spokesman says 33-year-old Jaime Ocanas had been assigned to the agency's Rio Grande City station. Court records show a woman told Pharr police in October that Ocanas had sexually assaulted her between 1998 and 2004.
