HOUSTON (AP) A Houston-area middle school student has been arrested after allegedly threatening to bring a gun to school. The Houston Chronicle reports the fifth-grader at Rogers Middle School in Pearland was arrested yesterday after saying he would bring a weapon to school following an argument with a classmate. School district officials say the threat was made after class and the student didn't come to school yesterday.

HOUSTON (AP) Police have canceled an Amber Alert after finding a missing two-year-old Houston girl. KTRK-TV reports Houston authorities found Alizae (ah-LEE'-say) Rene Mata (MAH'-tah) last night at an apartment complex with 22-year-old Jessenia Saldana. The family friend and the child hadn't been seen since Wednesday when they left to run errands.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) A settlement of a discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department against Corpus Christi is on hold. The federal agency sued last summer alleging sex discrimination in the city's procedures in hiring women for the police department. A judge this week put the case on hold to allow the police union to take part in settlement talks.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A nonprofit foundation tied to a beleaguered $3 billion cancer-fighting agency in Texas has disclosed a list of donors. The CPRIT Foundation yesterday released the list of more than 250 donors. The list had been sought by lawmakers in the wake of a criminal investigation launched into the state-run Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.
