BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) Police say three people have been seriously injured when a package they opened inside their South Texas home exploded. Brownsville police spokesman J.J. Trevino says the family found the package outside their home and opened it early yesterday morning. All three victims a mother, father and their 5-year-old daughter received extensive burns. Police are not releasing their names.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) BP has urged a federal judge to rule the company can't be penalized for millions of gallons of oil that spewed from its blown-out well but was captured before it could spill into the Gulf of Mexico. A court filing by BP today says the federal government overestimated the size of the 2010 spill because workers captured more than 34 million gallons of crude and either burned it or shipped it to shore.
HOUSTON (AP) A now 8-year-old boy kidnapped as an infant has moved into a new Houston-area home with his four siblings and their legal guardians. Miguel Morin moved in with Junita and Joseph Auguillard today after a judge granted them custody. They are also the legal guardians of Miguel's four biological siblings. They also have eight of their own children at home.
IRVING, Texas (AP) The Dallas Cowboys have hired former Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin as the replacement for Rob Ryan. The team announced the move on its website today, one day after the 72-year-old Kiffin was at Valley Ranch.
