FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) The flu remains widespread in Texas, and people are still taking precautions and rushing to get the flu shot. Some hospitals and clinics in Fort Worth and Austin report fewer patients with flu-like symptoms in recent days. But emergency rooms in Dallas, El Paso and elsewhere remain crowded with flu patients.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) A woman testified this week that a Houston-area Air Force recruiter forced her to have sex at his office. The Angleton woman's testimony wrapped up a three-day Article 32 hearing for Technical Sergeant Jaime (HYE'-meh) Rodriguez at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. The equivalent of a civilian grand jury proceeding will determine whether Rodriguez will be court-martialed.
CROSBYTON, Texas (AP) Authorities have not released the cause of death for a child found dead inside a box in a West Texas basement. An autopsy has been performed on the body Crosbyton authorities believe is 2-year-old Leah Aguirre. The girl's remains were found Thursday in Crosbyton, 40 miles east of Lubbock. Her caretaker, Matilda Almaraz, is charged with capital murder and remains jailed on $1 million bond.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Lance Armstrong said he will answer questions "directly, honestly and candidly" during an interview with Oprah Winfrey next week. The longtime Austin resident will also apologize and make a limited confession to using performance-enhancing drugs, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Armstrong has spent more than a decade denying that he used performance enhancing drugs.
