LEWISVILLE, Texas (AP) A man injured in an explosion that leveled a North Texas home has died at a hospital. Christian Community Action president and CEO Rob Batts says 55-year-old Scott Deahl died last night. Authorities are trying to determine what caused the blast Friday in Lewisville.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) West Texas authorities say a man has been arrested after allegedly inducing an underage girl to have sex with him with the promise of help in becoming an adult film star. El Paso police say 23-year-old Jacob Martinez posted an ad online in hopes of recruiting aspiring porn actresses. Officials say Martinez was contacted by an underage girl and the two ultimately had sex.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) A West Texas woman has been sentenced to more than one year in prison for relaying messages between her imprisoned father and gang members on the street. Twenty-four-year-old April Cardoza pleaded guilty in October to racketing conspiracy. Prosecutors say her father, Manuel Cardoza, was a gang captain. He is serving a life sentence.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The head of the Texas Senate Education Committee wants to reform oversight of the state's charter schools. Committee Chairman Dan Patrick tells the Austin American-Statesman that the Legislature "didn't get it right" when it opened the door to charter schools. In the 1990s, lawmakers passed legislation to allow private organizations to run public schools outside district administrations but under state supervision.
