DALLAS (AP) A woman on trial for the death of a 10-year-old stepson has told jurors she limited the boy's water several times shortly before his death. Tina Marie Alberson is charged with felony injury to a child in the 2011 death of Jonathan James. The Dallas Morning News reports Alberson told the jury yesterday she saw no sign the boy was in medical distress before he collapsed.
TYLER, Texas (AP) Prosecutors have finished presenting their case against a retired East Texas dentist in the shooting death of his wife. The state rested yesterday evening in the murder trial of 76-year-old Bobby Ray Nichols. He previously admitted to shooting 71-year-old Rosalind Nichols last June after a heated argument at their Tyler home.
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) A former U.S. Homeland Security agent has pleaded guilty in Brownsville to conspiring to falsify investigative records. Wayne Ball entered the plea yesterday after reaching a deal with prosecutors that requires his future cooperation. Ball is a former special agent with the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general's office in McAllen.
MCALLEN, Texas (AP) Three former South Texas police officers have been arraigned on allegations they took money to escort drug loads. Former Mission police officers Jonathan Trevino and Alexis Espinoza and ex-Hidalgo County sheriff's deputy Gerardo Mendoza-Duran were indicted last week. All three pleaded not guilty yesterday in federal court in McAllen.
