HOUSTON (AP) A Houston-area man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison in a child pornography investigation in which he described himself as a "monster." Thirty-seven-year-old D.J. Christopher Lowe was sentenced yesterday in federal court. Investigators say Lowe exploited six children, including a toddler.

TEMPLE, Texas (AP) One person is dead following a house fire in Central Texas. Temple Fire & Rescue officials say the apparent accidental fire broke out earlier today in the small home. Investigators say a space heater was found in the bedroom and close to some combustible bedding.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A San Antonio school bus driver has been slightly injured after the vehicle went out of control and crashed into a motel swimming pool. Officials with the North East Independent School District say the driver was alone on board yesterday afternoon. Authorities are trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the bus.

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) A West Texas doctor faces at least 10 years in prison for writing fake prescriptions and sometimes not even seeing the patients. Investigators in Midland say Dr. Barrett Doyle Whitefield of Odessa pleaded guilty yesterday. Officials say Whitefield wrote prescriptions for hydrocodone to numerous individuals upon request.
