DALLAS (AP) A suburban Dallas county sheriff says he doesn't consider all gun control unconstitutional after posting a statement saying he wouldn't enforce any laws that violate Second Amendment rights. Collin County Sheriff Terry Box says in an interview today that he didn't think the now-expired assault weapons ban passed under former President Bill Clinton was unconstitutional.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Prosecutors say their investigation into the state's troubled $3 billion cancer-fighting effort "is ongoing and aggressive." But they also confirm that current state officials and board members have been cleared. Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg says today that Chairman Jimmy Mansour and other board members of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas "are not under suspicion in the investigation."

TYLER, Texas (AP) A retired East Texas dentist told a jury that he was "in a stupor" and didn't intend to fatally shoot his wife during an argument at their home last summer. MCALLEN, Texas (AP) A former investigator with a South Texas district attorney's office has been charged in a drug conspiracy that included others accused of shooting a federal agent. A superseding indictment filed today n McAllen names Aida Palacios (ah-YEE'-dah puh-LAH'-see-yohs) as part of a conspiracy that sought to possess and distribute more than a ton of marijuana.
