DALLAS (AP) A Dallas-area woman who needed more than 500 stitches after a beating in 2011 says her now-former boyfriend first became violent in 2009. The woman returns to the stand today in the aggravated sexual assault trial of 34-year-old Jose Arreola. Prosecutors say Arreola was free on bail when he allegedly raped and sexually mutilated the woman in March 2011.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) A South Texas man who had more than 12,000 child pornography images on his computers has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Sixty-four-year-old Joseph Fellhauer of Victoria received his punishment yesterday in federal court. The investigation began in 2010 when an undercover officer downloaded several child pornography items from a computer linked to Fellhauer.

TYLER, Texas (AP) Prosecutors will seek a life sentence for a retired East Texas dentist convicted of shooting his wife to death. The penalty phase of Bobby Ray Nichols' murder trial begins today in Smith County. The 76-year-old Nichols shot and killed his 71-year-old wife, Rosalind, last June during an argument at their Tyler home.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) American Airlines will outsource some regional flights to Republic Airways. Fort Worth-based American says it has reached a 12-year deal with Republic. The agreement is subject to approval by American's federal bankruptcy court judge. Under the deal, Republic will get 53 planes pained in American Eagle colors.
