EDINBURG, Texas (AP) A 16-year-old South Texas boy is set to appear in an Edinburg court this morning so a judge can decide whether he'll be tried as an adult for last year's shooting of a federal agent. The teenager's charged with attempted capital murder as a juvenile.

DEL RIO, Texas (AP) Three former Maverick County employees are pleading guilty to participating in a kickback scheme involving county contracts. The three were among those charged as part of an investigation into corruption in the South Texas county.

DALLAS (AP) The criminal charges are mounting against a Texas man who calls himself a spokesman for the hacker-activist group Anonymous. A two-count federal indictment returned yesterday in Dallas charges Barrett Brown with concealing evidence by hiding two laptop computers.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The battle for higher education dollars begins today when the Senate Finance Committee hears testimony on the budget needs of four state university systems. The panel will hear from the Texas State University System, Texas Tech University System, University of Houston System and the University of North Texas System.
