AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Attorney General Greg Abbott are headlining an Austin rally today aimed at reversing Roe v. Wade. Organizers are expecting thousands of abortion opponents will be at the rally, which will be proceeded by a short march. The U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion occurred 40 years ago.

NEDERLAND, Texas (AP) The body of a Southeastern Texas man killed by al Qaida-affiliated militants in Algeria is expected to arrive home today. Victor Lovelady was a contract worker for BP PLC. His funeral is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday in Nederland. He was one of three Americans who died in the attack at a remote gas plant in the desert.

HOUSTON (AP) A crowded field is lining up to succeed the late Mario Gallegos in the state Senate. Eight candidates have lined up for a special election in Houston. The Democrat died of liver disease in October. It was too late to remove his name from the ballot, and he posthumously won another term.

GILMER, Texas (AP) A former East Texas county commissioner and his son have been indicted on charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer. They're accused of holding a state game warden at gunpoint. An Upshur County grand jury in Gilmer indicted former Upshur County Commissioner Lloyd Allen Crabtree and his 28-year-old son, Todd Crabtree. They remained jailed yesterday with bonds of $1.5 million each.
