CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) NASA's marking the 10-year anniversary of the Columbia space shuttle explosion today by honoring the seven astronauts who died when the spacecraft was disintegrated over Texas. The space agency's holding a public memorial service today at Florida's Kennedy Space Center.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Students at a North Texas university will release biodegradable white balloons this morning in memory of an astronaut who died aboard the space shuttle Columbia. Kalpana Chawla earned her master's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. A dorm on campus is named in her honor.

KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) Some prosecutors say they're worried about their safety after yesterday's fatal shooting of a Kaufman County assistant district attorney. Mark Hasse (HA'-see) was gunned down by a masked gunman in a parking lot. Authorities are still searching for a suspect.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas Governor Rick Perry will address the State Board of Education today. The Republican's said he wants lawmakers to increase the number of public charter schools across the state and offer scholarships to students who are "locked into low-performing schools."
