MIDLOTHIAN, Texas (AP) Hundreds of people have attended a funeral for one of the men slain at a Texas shooting range. Chad Littlefield was remembered for his bedrock character. He and his friend, former Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, were killed by a former Marine they were trying t help worth through post-traumatic stress disorder.

HUGO, Colo. (AP) It's two years of probation for a Louisiana teen convicted in a hit-and-run that killed two women from Balch Springs. The teen was also sentenced to 300 hours of public service and can't drive for two years. He pleaded guilty to charges that weren't immediately disclosed. The crash killed Shun Jones of Carrolton and Amanda Omo-Iyamu.

DALLAS (AP) A decision could come next week on a possible merger that would create an airline rivaling the world's biggest. The boards of American Airlines parent AMR Corp. and US Airways say they're close to a decision. Directors of US Airways plan to meet over the weekend or Monday.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Gov. Rick Perry has set a March 2 date for a runoff for the Houston seat that had belonged to the late Sen. Mario Gallegos. Former Harris County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia and state Rep. Carol Alvarado got the most votes in the eight-candidate field last month, but neither captured a majority. Gallegos died of liver disease in October.
