LA PORTE, Texas (AP) Authorities say one person has been killed and another seriously injured after a gas plant explosion in southeast Texas. One employee was flown to a hospital after the incident yesterday morning in La Porte, 25 miles southeast of Houston. Another worker was missing. The Houston Chronicle says crews found a body after searching for about 12 hours, but couldn't confirm the victim's identity last night.
MIDLOTHIAN, Texas (AP) Police have released details about the 200-mile procession planned for a former Navy SEAL sniper who was killed at a Texas shooting range. In a news release yesterday, Midlothian Police Chief Carl Smith said the procession for Chris Kyle will begin at about 8 a.m. Tuesday at the local school district's multi-purpose stadium. It will end at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin.
TERRELL, Texas (AP) A Texas prosecutor gunned down outside his courthouse office last month is remembered for his zealousness in pursuing tough cases, love of flying and ability to tell stories. Hundreds turned out yesterday to celebrate the life of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse (HA'-see) during a 90-minute memorial service inside a Terrell high school auditorium. No arrests have been made in the 57-year-old's slaying.
DUMAS, Texas (AP) A Baptist church in the Texas Panhandle plans to host a concealed handgun class. The Reverend Brad Foster of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas says this weekend that a state-certified instructor will teach the 10-hour class in the fellowship hall on March 2nd.
