HOUSTON (AP) A Texas man whose two sons were killed in a traffic accident has been charged in the deadly shooting at the crash scene of a suspected drunken driver. Brothers Caleb and David Barajas Jr. were helping their father push a broken-down pickup in December when a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Jose Banda slammed into them. Brazoria County authorities say witnesses saw David Barajas Sr. next to Banda's vehicle when shots were fired.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Nearly 7,000 people attended the memorial service for former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. He and friend Chad Littlefield were killed earlier this month at a North Texas gun range. Kyle's widow, Taya Kyle, told mourners at Cowboys Stadium yesterday that he'll always be with her.
CORSICANA, Texas (AP) A 58-year-old Texas man who served almost 30 years in prison for a murder conviction has been freed after DNA testing pointed to another suspect. A judge set Randolph Arledge free yesterday in Corsicana. Arledge was convicted in 1984 of stabbing a woman more than 40 times and leaving her body on a dirt road.
WEIMAR, Texas (AP) Authorities in South Texas have confiscated about $500,000 worth of cocaine hidden in a vehicle's radiator. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office yesterday announced the bust and the arrest of two people from Florida. During a traffic stop Friday on Interstate 10 near Weimar, a drug-sniffing dog located more than 20 pounds of cocaine in the altered radiator.
