AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Former Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle was buried today in Austin as family members and fellow SEALS looked on amid the sounds of drums and bagpipes. A white hearse carrying Kyle's flag-draped coffin was among 200 vehicles in a procession that traveled from his hometown near Dallas to the Texas State Cemetery. Many drivers pulled to the side of roads to watch the procession.

MIAMI (AP) The manhunt continues for a prisoner who stabbed a police escort and escaped last night as he was being transferred from Florida to Nevada. Grapevine police say Alberto Morales used his eyeglasses to attack the officer. They believe Morales is still in the Dallas area.

HOUSTON (AP) A Texas man says his son has told him the deck of a disabled cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico looks like "a shanty town" with sheets draped like tents and people sleeping on mattresses. The ship is being towed toward Alabama and is scheduled to arrive on Thursday. Passengers say it's too hot and smelly to sleep in their cabins.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A state senator says the part-time board that oversees Texas water projects has been ineffective and should be replaced by a full-time board with more funding and accountability. Senator Troy Fraser is the lead sponsor of a plan to overhaul the water board and take $2 billion in state reserves to create a new water development fund.
