HOUSTON (AP) A former elementary school teacher in Houston faces up to 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty in a child pornography case. Fifty-three-year-old Juan Villarreal entered the plea yesterday. A Beaumont police officer investigating online child porn traced several downloads to a computer used by Villarreal.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) A former professional marriage counselor faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a male client. Testimony continues today in Fort Worth in the penalty phase for 47-year-old Sheila Loven. Prosecutors say Loven held sessions with an Arlington husband and wife while trying to seduce the man.

HOUSTON (AP) Authorities say a newborn girl has survived being wrapped in a plastic bag and abandoned near a Houston-area apartment complex. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the baby was breathing on her own when she was discovered last night in Cypress. Deputies say the umbilical cord was still attached.

BRYAN, Texas (AP) Firefighters and others will remember two Central Texas firefighters who were killed in a blaze over the weekend. A public memorial service is being held today in College Station for Bryan firefighters Eric Wallace and Gregory Pickard. Both died Saturday of injuries they suffered while battling a blaze at an unoccupied Knights of Columbus Hall.
