MCALLEN, Texas (AP) Cameron County authorities say a South Texas attorney committed suicide yesterday, hours before he was supposed to begin serving a three-and-a-half-year sentence for bribing a judge. Family members identified the remains of 56-year-old Ray Marchan, who jumped from the Queen Isabella Causeway that connects Padre Island and Port Isabel.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) Prosecutors want an El Paso lawyer and philanthropist who's accused of money laundering to forfeit $2.5 million in cash. An indictment filed this week says Marco Delgado defrauded a firm doing business with a Mexican utility out of millions of dollars and used that money to pay for a lavish lifestyle. In another indictment, he's accused of conspiring to launder more than $600 million for a Mexican drug cartel.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Texas (AP) Security will be tight today at a high school in a wealthy Dallas enclave after authorities say they found two threatening notes this week. The latest note was discovered yesterday at Highland Park High. One day earlier, someone left a box of .22-caliber shells in a boys' bathroom.

WASHINGTON (AP) The Pentagon's lifting an order that briefly grounded its fleet of F-35 fighter jets. The 51 jets, which were built in Fort Worth, were grounded February 21st after mechanics discovered a small crack in an engine blade.
