GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) George Prescott Bush is speaking at a fundraiser today that could help him meet tea party voters critical in Republican primaries. Former President George W. Bush's nephew will join some of the state's most strident conservative voices today at the Denton County Republican Party's Lincoln-Reagan dinner. Bush has crisscrossed the state and is raising money for a run at statewide office next year.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) The chief executive of a New Braunfels, Texas-based company that sells scooters and motorized vehicles is telling employees not to return to work. Martin Landon sent an email yesterday telling his workforce of about 1,200 employees not to return to work unless advised to do so by the company human resources department. In December, two U.S. senators questioned why The Scooter Store had received as much as $87.7 million in Medicare overpayments.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Hyatt is paying about $85 million to take over a hotel that's been a downtown Austin fixture since 1886. The company announced yesterday that it has acquired the 189-room Driskill Hotel. It's expected to undergo a two-year renovation costing about $8 million.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The remake of the 1981 cult horror film "Evil Dead" has been welcomed by audiences at South by Southwest. The project has involved the original filmmakers and a fresh-faced director to inject youthful enthusiasm. The reboot stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore playing four new characters. The movie's plot remains the same.
