DALLAS (AP) Dallas police are investigating whether the slaying of a 78-year-old woman whose body was found at her home was a botched burglary. Officers performing a welfare check Saturday discovered the body of Avenell Cowgill. Oak Farms Dairy has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in Cowgill's killing.
HOUSTON (AP) Crews have suspended their search for a missing man whose kayak was found capsized at a Houston-area retention pond. The Harris County Sheriff's Office last night announced the search for 32-year-old Ryan Smith was called off pending additional information. The kayak was discovered Saturday afternoon on the shore of the pond where he's been known to go fishing.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Some dilapidated buildings in downtown Corpus Christi will be demolished to make way for a transit customer service center. The Regional Transportation Authority has approved an $825,000 demolition contract. Work is expected to begin April 1st to raze the vacant buildings near City Hall.
ATLANTIC, Va. (AP) NASA has launched a suborbital rocket from its Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The space agency says the Terrier-Lynx rocket was launched for the Department of Defense this morning. NASA postponed the launch last Friday because of weather concerns.
