CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) A Texas Marine who died in combat in Afghanistan will receive the Silver Star. The Marine Corps says Wade Wilson of Centerville will receive the award in a posthumous ceremony at California's Camp Pendleton on Thursday. The 22-year-old Wilson was killed last May in his second deployment to Afghanistan.

WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama will award a posthumous Medal of Honor to a Korean War Army chaplain credited with providing medical assistance to fellow soldiers during combat operations in Korea. Captain Emil Kapaun was based at Fort Bliss in El Paso before leaving for Korea. The White House says Kapaun exhibited "extraordinary heroism" during a battle with communist forces in 1950.

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) A dozen South Texas residents have been indicted in what federal prosecutors say was a "whites only" methamphetamine ring. Authorities say seven of the people charged in the case were already in custody and five others were arrested last Friday. Four of the defendants are charged with murder in connection with the 2011 death of a Liberty County man.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) A Texas Christian University student has been charged with evidence tampering in connection with the death of the grandson of billionaire T. Boone Pickens. Twenty-one-year-old Brennan Trainor Rodriguez is accused of hiding evidence from police investigating the death of Thomas Boone Pickens IV. Court documents identified the evidence as heroin, drug paraphernalia, syringes and marijuana.
