MESQUITE, Texas (AP) The deaths of four family members found in a Dallas-area home have been ruled a triple murder and suicide. The Dallas County medical examiner says the deaths of 44-year-old Marcelo Vazquez and his children, 18-year-old Alejandro and 21-year-old Paulina, were homicides. The death of 43-year-old Angelica Vazquez was ruled a suicide. Mesquite police found the bodies on Wednesday.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) State Representative Naomi Gonzalez has been arrested on drunken driving charges. Austin police say the El Paso lawmaker was arrested yesterday after rear-ending another car near downtown. The 34-year-old Gonzalez was first elected in 2010 and serves on a House ethics panel.

DALLAS (AP) A federal lawsuit has been filed seeking damages for 17 people who were passengers on the crippled Carnival Triumph cruise ship last month. The plaintiffs in the suit filed yesterday are all Texas residents who claim they were physically harmed. The suit is at least the fourth to be filed against Carnival Cruise Lines.

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) A man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading no contest in the death of a Beaumont police officer. Thirty-two-year-old John Nero was sentenced yesterday in the death of Officer Bryan Herbert. Police said Herbert was killed when Nero's vehicle struck the patrol car during a pursuit.
