DALLAS (AP) Dallas police are trying to identify some human bones discovered along the Trinity River. Authorities say the bones were found yesterday by people walking their dogs. Investigators are trying to identify the remains, which included a skull, a torso and some clothing.

TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) Authorities are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman in Northeast Texas as a murder-suicide. Texarkana police say officers responded to home last night after a family member in the home reported two people had been shot. The Texarkana Gazette reports four children were in the home at the time of the shootings.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Governor Rick Perry is slated to again discuss using a surplus of state funds on tax cuts. Perry will discuss "tax relief" today at the Austin Chamber of Commerce, but it could still be a tough sell. Top Texas Senate Republicans say the most likely source of tax cuts is only refunding to ratepayers nearly $900 million from the System Benefit Fund.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Prosecutors in Texas are set to open their case against leaders of a violent cartel accused of buying racehorses to hide illegal drug profits. A federal judge has ordered jury selection to begin today in Austin. The case centers on Jose Trevino Morales, who prosecutors say oversaw the purchase of hundreds of quarter horses at a ranch in Oklahoma.
