HOUSTON (AP) Officials say lightning apparently sparked an oil storage tank fire in Houston that spread to another tank before both blazes were put out. No one was injured in the fires earlier today at Southwest Terminal Mineral Oil Company. Investigators say the insulation burned in both containers and the tanks were not breached.

MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) A North Texas chiropractor has been convicted of sexually abusing female patients during examinations. The penalty phase begins today for 44-year-old David Russell of McKinney, who faces up to life in prison. Investigators say some of the victims were teenagers.

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) A Southeast Texas man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for robbing two banks in Beaumont. A federal judge yesterday sentenced 39-year-old Jonathan Roberts of Beaumont. Roberts was linked to two bank robberies in December 2009 and January 2010 when police questioned him about a business holdup.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Austin police have shot and killed a man who aimed a rifle at officers answering a call about him threatening suicide. Police Chief Art Acevedo says the four officers who opened fire last night have been placed on administrative leave with pay. Authorities say the suspect appeared to be preparing to open fire when he pointed the rifle at police.
