FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) A memorial service will be held this month in West Texas for five soldiers killed in a bombing in Afghanistan. Fort Bliss officials say a service has been scheduled for May 22nd at the post chapel. The five Fort Bliss soldiers died last week of injuries sustained when an improvised bomb damaged their vehicle.

KARNES CITY, Texas (AP) A South Texas construction worker has died after a pipe fell on him at a job site. The Karnes County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 25-year-old James Burnett of Goliad. The accident happened Monday at a BHP Billiton Petroleum construction site.

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) An aspiring West Texas rapper has been convicted of luring a 15-year-old Wisconsin girl into having sex with him. Twenty-eight-year-old Charles Martinez of Stanton was found guilty yesterday afternoon in federal court. Martinez faces up to life in prison at a sentencing in July.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas health officials have raised mercury concerns in advising some people not to eat or to limit consumption of certain fish caught off the Texas coast. The Department of State Health Services issued the advisory yesterday. The advistory involves shark, blackfin tuna, blue marlin, little tunny, crevalle jack, king mackerel, swordfish and wahoo.
