GRANBURY, Texas (AP) Officials say at least six people were killed following a tornado in North Texas. Authorities in Granbury say the fatalities occurred yesterday as the twister tore through two neighborhoods. Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds also says dozens were injured.
DALLAS (AP) The attorney for a North Texas man who drowned two of his sons says his client acted out of fear the boys would group up to be just like him. Paul Johnson addressed jurors yesterday as Naim Muhammad's trial entered its penalty phase. The jury deliberated less than 10 minutes before convicting Muhammad in the August 2011 deaths of his two sons.
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) A 37-year-old Houston man convicted of killing a police officer has been executed. Jeffrey Williams received lethal injection yesterday evening after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-day appeal. Williams was convicted of shooting Houston officer Troy Blando to death 14 years ago.
WACO, Texas (AP) A first responder who helped evacuate people ahead of a deadly explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant has pleaded not guilty to possession of bomb-making materials. Authorities haven't announced any link between Bryce Reed and the April 17th blast in West, which killed 14 people. Investigators claim Reed was in possession of materials for a pipe bomb.
