SAN ANTONIO (AP) Officials say a soldier who shot a fellow service member at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio has surrendered. The gunman turned himself in to San Antonio police yesterday afternoon. The female victim was transported to a medical center on the post in stable condition.
HOUSTON (AP) Officials say a Houston woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death with a stiletto high heel told authorities she was trying to protect himself. Houston police say 44-year-old Ana Trujillo told investigators the man was attacking her and she acted in self-defense. She is charged with murder in the death of University of Houston professor Alf Andersson.
PHOENIX (AP) The FBI says a flight from Los Angeles to Texas was diverted to Phoenix following a "telephonic bomb threat." An FBI spokesman says Southwest Airlines flight 2675 was heading to Austin yesterday afternoon when the threat was received. The plane landed safely at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Governor Rick Perry has added funding for transportation to the special session. Perry says the state's growing economy and population made additional spending on roads and bridges necessary. In January, the governor called on lawmakers to take money from the rainy day fund for highways, but they failed to pass the legislation.
