FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) A military judge at Fort Hood is refusing to delay Major Nidal Hasan's trial for three months. The Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly rampage at the base plans to represent himself and says he needs more time to prepare his defense. But the judge says no. Thirteen people died in the 2009 attack.

FRIONA, Texas (AP) BNSF has reopened a rail line in the Texas Panhandle where strong winds toppled a freight train yesterday. Winds of about 100 miles per hour knocked over more than 40 rail cars between Friona (free-OHN'-uh) and Summerfield. But no cargo spilled.

GEORGE WEST, Texas (AP) Live Oak County in South Texas has been sued for the second time in a year over the sexual abuse of women in its jail. The defendants in the latest lawsuit include three former guards who've been convicted of improper contact with prisoners.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) Investigators are searching for five suspects who robbed a Houston-area jewelry store. The robbers in haz-mat suits and painters' masks broke display cases at the store in The Woodlands last night. At least one had a gun. They sped off in a white SUV.
